WTF is going on over here is right.
man oh man, this is heinous. Doesn't look like squashing it out is gonna happen soon. Remember the fateful night, the brother was trying to get the computer to work. Let the boys do their thing. I don't see why the Mrs. is adamant about what producer is used. Maybe it was one Chris wanted to use. Coming up on the dreaded day as well "the day music truly died" Don't let this not get resolved y'all.

That's a brutal article. How bad does the situation have to be to countersue one of your best friend's wives. It seems there were many rifts between her and Chris Cornell Friend's/Associates. I'm guessing in this case the producer argument might be a misnomer. It could be money related. Trying to figure out how to release those recordings without having to pay Soundgarden. Especially when they're accusing her of not using the tribute concert money for it's intended purpose.
Who knows though. All you can do is read between the lines, and you don't really know what either party is thinking or plotting.
Hopefully it gets worked out and we see those recordings surface one day.

All quiet on the home front with the case. Ugh. I recall Kim mentioning Butch Vig as a producer, but too many intricacies when it comes to SG production, even with Chris... the brother Vig is a good producer but not feeling it as him for the hopeful 7 song album. dam man back in the day Nirvana went with Albani. that dude did good work with In utero. The Bean? ha. Fuggeddaboutit. Gotta commend the brother's efforts though. But SG music is serious business. Rick Ruin? this is heinous. I'm thinking maybe the combo of the Original OG. The gangsta Terry date, Ah yeah babe. With Brendan B on the mix, Or Brendan period. and Adam kasper. Let's get this business straightened out peeps.

I dont know who this Butch Vig character is , but with a name like that, that brother should be nowhere near a SG record...and i mean that whole heartedly. Put a guy with a name like that where he belongs. In an OTB betting on the races. Rick Ruin...fuggedaboudit...that animal would turn a vicious piece of heavy rock into candy coated pop music. He already commited heinous acts of "never forgive action" on that first Audioslave record. How do you take every single track off a demo, AND MAKE IT WORSE. What a f****n a**hole. Pardon the French, but i got beef with this bum...MAD BEEF. Baked Beinhorn, that brother got busy. SG can say whatever they want about him...all i know are the results. The Bean got busy.

LOL Butch Vig produced Nevermind but I just don't see him doing anything with SG. With the way things look, by the time we hear whatever they recorded I'll be in a retirement home somewhere.

It is messed up.... The material is there for an album...The band wants to do it... It doesnt make sense that they cant come to an agreement so they can get the vocal files. They definitely had worked together on music for the new album, so i highly doubt those recordings in question were intended for anything but a Soundgarden record.

thanks for linking those up.
The 3rd paragraph from the news story. The Rev had cribs all over the joint. I don't doubt he was always tinkering around with an acoustic, writing new lyrics etc. wherever and whenever, But ya can't be getting no influence of heavy riffage n howlin n growlin down in South Beach. With the likes of Bruno Marx and Pitbull strolling around this is heinous. The only album I think he wrote down there was Higher Truth. I"m sure if the brother was still here, Sigh, the final production and recording would've been up in the Northwest.

On a slightly related note, I was reading about Hipgnosis after coming across this article over the weekend: www.theguardian.com/music/2021/feb/27/merck-mercuriadis-the-man-who-is-shaking-up-the-music-industryAccording to this, Chris' catologue is one that they acquired last year (possibly including songs from Superunknown?): www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/LON:SONG/Hipgnosis-Songs-Fund-Limited/rns/899191 - The band have come out and said that a third party was seeking to purchase their recorded catalogue, so I wonder if it was Hipgnosis (or a similar company)? I wouldn't begrudge anyone maximising potential songwriter earnings and more musicians seem to be doing this (Neil Young, The Killers). By all accounts the guy running the show seems to care about the songs in their portfolio, but where investors are involved, there surely needs to be a return on investment at some point? If their focus is on placing songs in adverts, shows and having other artists cover/interpret songs, I could see how a band like Soundgarden might potentially resist something like that. They've seemed quite protective of how their music was used in the past.

^^ Thanks for linking those articles. How many times ya read over the years about an artist getting pennies for their brilliant work. Speaking of pennies, I looked the company's stock up. Heh. But ya can't buy it like food at the grocery store. Like it read, the smartest brother in the room. Fuggeddaboutit. Band news. Billboard seemed to have the most informative latest about the songs in limbo. Still lingering in the courts. This is heinous.

It's pretty sad, all the conflict between the band and Chris' ex.
I was reading her arguments in the article that her and Chris used to run the social media site. That probably made sense at the time. But now it's 3 surviving members of the band and the widow of the fourth bandmate. Shouldn't it reside with the actual band members?
