its getting tiresome hearing Scream getting mentioned as this disaster in all these reviews for Higher Truth. Every one i ever played that album for liked it. That tells me it was good music. The only people i never played it for were SG/"grunge" fans and metal heads....and those seem to be the ones that "bag" on it.... It not being someones cup of tea doesnt make it a bad album....That was a GOOD album.....anyway That guy calls Josephine cheesy.......That chorus is the main thing thats stuck in my head right now...I could listen to that all day....:"Maaaah sweeeeet Josephine, wont you come and mary me"....Ah yeah babe Murder Of Blue Skies. He hit it out the park with that one.....The entire song....but when Rev lets it rip in the end....the music...the vocals...fuggedaboudit... Yeah, no doubt. this is heinous. A brother got props for the Scream album. i remember at the show for that tour lots of people were singing along to it. Fans that looked like they were there for that particular album, and most were of the female variety. Ah yeah babe. So I gotta thank The Rev for that. Have to disagree with the Zealander's review about HT being an extension of EM. Not even close. It's more of a. well, not an extension, but maybe Higher Truth is what Chris wanted Carry On to sound like. With age comes wisdom. Ah yeah babe. Speaking of heinous, the closest Worst (Best) Buy to me didn't have any Higher Truth cd's, nor did one of the local joints. Ugh. May have to do some travelling to pick one up. So thanks for posting Josephine mah brotha. Ah yeah babe

Yeah Downtemple, I work at a Best Buy and we seriously got 2 copies in on release day. I bought one when we opened and we were out by midday. I guess the music labels think people don't buy discs anymore...

Every album Cornell has dropped since the first Audioslave album .....Thats been my ritual. Hit Best Buy the day its released after work, have the coffee ready in the car....get nice n situated in the whip...press play...n crank it up. On one or two occasions i even skipped work to be at Best Buy bright and early. When KA came out....forget work. That was a day of celebration. ...Anyway... When i got off work i went to Best Buy, wend to whats become a single cd isle and didnt see it. I ask a guy where the new releases are, and i didnt see it there. A brother was pissed. I asked another employee if he could check on the computer...(now a brother is starting to get parnoid) .so we go to the computer and as he was signing in he goes "lets go check this one spot (this lil mini rack i didnt notice) ...... n there it was..at the very bottom...The only one. Just one copy... Euphoria.
Cornell needed this album.... Euphoria Mo(u)rning was a real good album but it was so long ago....Carry On was a dud and Scream had such a backlash that his solo career had the perception of being underwhelming. Cornell did it "right" with this one....and its current in the present day so people can stop focusing on on Scream or Carry On which was the only solo stuff he put out in over 15 years.
Only bad solo record he did in my opinion as Carry On. That album was a snooze fest. ...but a 15 year period with only Carry On and then followed by Scream wasnt a good look on his solo career. This album starts shaping the solo career up....
For me, Scream followed by this....thats gangster.... He took it to the club with excellence and then layed it down as a singer song writer supreme......
Higher Truth itself....Its a real solid album. Has some awesome songs on it. ....has a few that seem a lil boring. I wish it ended a lil stronger cause the last three songs i think are the weaker side of the album.....but then you get Wrong Side in the bonus tracks which is an awesome tune. That wouldve been a cool closer. So thts what i wouldve done, not that anyone cares.....I wouldve put Bend In the Road,Wrong Side and Misery Chain in the regular album, in place of three of the weaker tracks, scrapped the bonus tracks and i think that wouldve made one hell of an album. The songs are there.

Ah yeah babe. A brotha knows how to first properly listen to new Chris related music. Prepare the whip, gear up, and let er rip (the new album) Ah yeah babe. Listening to the Reverend is serious business. Not background noise. Good post. And man, this is still downright heinous. The other brother said his BB had two copies, yours only one, and mine, None. What gives? No wonder we call it Worst Buy. Yeah, Carry On. My least fave music Chris has ever done. There's some good tunes on it, She'll never be your man, Scar on the sky, etc. but it lacked some zip. Josephine got a good audience response from the San Diego crowd. First live performance as well. Nothing cheesy about it. Murderer of Blue Skies? Ah yeah babe. Nice guitar solo. With Chris howling in the background.

yeah, Best Buy is definitely doing away with the cd's. By the time the next SG comes out, online might be the only place for me to get a physical copy. ...which is kind of bummer cause i like walking into a store the day of release, and throwing it in the car. She'll Never Be Your Man is probably my fav on that album....Arms Around Your Love, the verses i like....Maybe one or two more, but as a whole, that album is pretty weak. Higher Truth, man, i love some of these songs.....Good stuff on here...alot of great music on it. Worried Moon, Before We Disappear,Josephine,Murder Of Blue Skies,Let Your Eyes Wonder, Bend In The Road, Wrong Side......Great tunes...
Before We Disappear....A brother was jammin that one on the way home today.... That chorus is awesome....the whole song.....

If you don't wish to be angry then maybe don't bother reading this review. It feels like more of the usual click bait material from the master monkey at Alt Nation - waiting for the hoards of trolls to enter his cave! Chris Cornell Plays It Safe On ‘Higher Truth’

I came across that nonsense( "review" ) ^^^ earlier today....
How the hell is this album "playing it safe" .....what does that even mean??.....Thats jabroni talk.
This is an awesome album.....Yeah, there are a couple of songs i dont really care for, but Rev laid down alot of great songs on this. Nothing safe or unsafe about it. Its just some great music.
At least alot of the comments in response to that "review" didnt agree with the "reviewer".
then you had one jabroni post in the comment section that the album is in thirds....A third awesome, a third average and a third horrible.....with josephine and Let your eyes wander being in that "horrible third".......Those are awesome songs.
The Spin review was the worst. Just pathetic......The responses to the review were on point. Total garbage.

I came across that nonsense( "review" ) ^^^ earlier today.... How the hell is this album "playing it safe" .....what does that even mean??.....Thats jabroni talk. I would hardly call a stripped down acoustic album from a hard rocking vocal god to be playing it safe! It is like this non-sense where people call artists sell outs when they change there sound or go in a slightly different direction. Now that is a review worth reading!

The more i listen to this album......fuggedaboudit....Its a classic. I think its one of the best albums of his career. These are just awesome songs, one after another.
Bend In The Road....I was just listening to that a few minutes ago...what a great track. At first i wasnt sure cause i really liked the initial live acoustic version....but this is pure perfection.
