Theyre on pace.....King Animal came out what, like 5 years ago....Theyre about halfway through the next album....By my calculations, it should be dropping in the spring of 2022...

2022. Oh man.
I hope Kim's playing possum and the album is further along than being reported. The boys are touring again soon. I hope they dive into some numbers not played since the 90's perhaps. Instead of BHS at every show.

Looks like we can Wave Goodbye to this album.

Yeah, it sounds like some songs were still in demo, others were ready to go, or close, but no studio time yet...
The only hope would be if they WERE playing possum. It's to imgine, though, that they laid anything down without a little word leaking out. That dirt's just too juicy...

Was so hoping there would be something we could hear. When he said halfway done, I thought we'd have 6 songs or so.
Ugh, this is so disappointing.
😦😢

This whole experience has made me realize how much I took for granted. Always thinking there's a next time, next album, next show.
Never in a million years would I have believed that things would end how/when they did.

Yeah, I kinda took everything for granted too. He was active, creating records, going on tour, and it seemed like he wasn't going to stop anytime soon. Since the start of this decade, Chris has been so prolific, just doing his own thing, and getting better and better.

I've had a very hard time getting back into the music too but this surely will pass.
I've had the thought that Chris took something of mine when he left... my peace and joy in music. Music is not my outlet since May 18th. I know it will eventually go back to normal. But, it's been unusually quiet in my house. There is normally music playing whenever I'm home.

I was like that for a few days. Usually whenever I have free time, I play my guitar, but on May 18th, I didn't even touch it once. I've gone back to it, and I'm listening to music pretty regularly again, but I still can't bring myself to listen to Chris... at least not by myself.

I've been listening to Soundgarden on repeat since I heard the news....different people react in different ways I guess. I've been thinking about the new album too...whether he'd want the other guys to finish off tracks if there were decent vocals down, or whether out of respect they'd leave the tracks alone and the album wouldn't come out. From everything I've read, he was super excited about the new album, so maybe it would be a fitting tribute to him. But...it all depends on what vocals were down, and how the other band members feel. It might just be too much for them. I'd also read that there were still huge amounts of unreleased stuff (but you'd have thought that might have come out on some of the super deluxe releases)...On a positive note, Soundgarden weren't shy about releasing demos (see the King Animals demo 10") so that could be one bit of hope in this bleak mess. The Rolling Stone piece just confirmed that even those closest to him are as perplexed as us as to how we've arrived here...it's so sad. Maybe a triumphant final album would be the perfect tribute. After all, Chris was involved in Jeff Buckley's Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk after Jeff's untimely passing...so we know he was open to the idea.

I feel exactly as you do, I can't listen to music right now.Fuck can't plat TOTD to grieve when the person that wrote it is gone. The only music i've listened to jumped out at me when I was watching Sense7 & what's up by four non-blonds ( didn't know who they were until that moment) other wise it's only N.W.A. & ICE CUBE

We/ no one will ever hear those tracks if there even are tracks. I know Matt is adamant about only releasing finished products so Chris took those with him Im sure there is some music we haven't heard but if they didn't put it on the last release of b-sides & rrareitys they will never let it out. We won't even get those TOTD shows they just toured with
