Sista PM. Your mentioning of this in the other thread threw me for a sec, then... oh yeah! We had such a thread at the former forum. So starting anew. Earlier I called up the college radio station that played Beyond the Wheel a week ago. Talked to the DJ for a sec. He said he played the studio track. He's a big fan of Chris so we chatted for a sec about the Reverend. Then he asked if I'd like to request a tune.. (the theme of his show is all flannel aka grunge rock oriented) So I requested some COC, Ah yeah babe

I get it. My problem was that I posted by using the quick reply which does not give you all the options. Anyway, this is Rival Sons, and they are awesome!!! If you like blues rock and bands like Led Zeppelin you might like these guys. The song above is my fav, and the one below is my number 2.

^ Ya know when a Greek brotha starts spitting the native tongue, the music gotta be good. Ah yeah babe
Dusted off and spun Fuel's Something like Human. Now years later some of that record was a bit over produced and some songs I skip over, but not this one. One of my faves by them, along with the tune Sunburn.

Here we have the current #1 song on the Billboard mainstream rock chart (Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart has moved up to #4). We saw these guys twice this year and once last year (great things come from Akron it seems). We met them and talked to them for a bit this year, and they signed my CD (I stashed their CD and a sharpie in my purse at the last minute before leaving the house....just in case!). They're talented and real nice too. This is not my fav song (The Otherside) of theirs, but I like it a lot. I will also post my fav (My Muse). I told friends last year to be on the lookout for these guys to make it bigger pretty soon, and here they are at #1. I'll have to check and see if they made it on any of the other charts. So few hard rockers end up on the hot 100 list. I can't stand most of the types of songs that usually make it on there. You'll recognize a bit of an Alice in Chains vibe in the first song. They were asked who they would like to tour with, and one of the bands was Soundgarden.

Agree with ya on the Muse one over the radio single, Sista PM. It kinda sounds like a tune from the band Muse. I like this one too.

^ Yeah, that's a good one too. There really isn't a bad song on the whole album. It's interesting because they put a heavy driving song in the first track position. Just like Been Away Too Long it's aggressive and doesn't have a memorable melody. Aggressive and hard hitting is good; I just don't always know how to appreciate melodies that aren't memorable. I tried real hard with Been Away Too Long, and to date I have not learned to love it, but I don't dislike it. I did, however, really enjoy it live (I am currently having bad withdrawal symptoms....no Soundgarden concert to go to this year). With these guys, I think they need to roughen it up a bit on their next album because in spots there was not enough rawness to it, the kind that separates the superstars from the stars. But....Last I checked, The Otherside was #1 on the Billboard mainstream rock chart, so at least we know people like it a lot which will propel them on (hopefully) in songwriting. I feel like they have at least some weirdness to them which is something else I like. That reminds me of something I read. I'll see if I can find it....be right back.

Here's a Loudwire article that mentioned weirdness as well as Soundgarden. I will post a snippet for those who don't want to read an entire article. loudwire.com/red-sun-rising-mike-protich-polyester-zeal-touring/It's not letting me copy and paste, so there is no snippet. If you go down to the blue question that starts with "Red Sun Rising have toured with Seether....", it's the answer to that question and the immediately following question that I was going to quote. Here's another newer song I like. I've been going back and forth about whether or not to buy the album. It's probably just another rock band incorporating occultic themes as a gimmick to create a niche for themselves among the many bands out there, but I don't know for sure, and I don't think I want to listen to a whole lot of that either way. I've heard the whole album is pretty good.

Speaking of COC and stoner/grunge rock type of good jams. This one. Def. hear Soundgarden influence in the riffage. Ah yeah babe. This sounds like something our long lost brother Mustang Ford might like.
