It has been 21 years since Jeff Buckley released Grace.... I'm not sure if anyone else on here enjoys his music, but he is one of my favourite vocalists along side Chris Cornell. He certainly had an amazing set of pipes! It is such a shame he died so young.
I would have loved to hear Chris collaborate with him. Chris definitely has been inspired by Jeff and was apparently good friends with him.
Chris wrote the song "Wave Goodbye" as a tribute to Jeff Buckley.

I'm sure he would do an amazing job and his acoustic live shows would be the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to another truly amazing vocalist. Have you heard the newly released You & I album? It is mostly covers from an early recording (1993) plus a demo of Grace and a very rough sketch song. By the way, welcome to the forum. I hope you stick around and enjoy the community.

I haven't heard You and I yet. I've been slacking lately.. Did they remove the old forum? I was here before but it all looks different now.

I definitely think it's worth listening to if you enjoy Jeff Buckley. I have the CD but it is also available for streaming on Spotify and Apple music. Yes, sadly they removed the official forum supposedly due to technical issues. They had trouble with spam bots but reading between the lines I think they felt it was easier to maintain a social media presence. I added a banner image up the top of the forum, but apart from that it is the same forum which I started (March last year) in response to the official forum closing down.

Funny this thread should come up now... Chris just posted this video on Facebook: Chris - Please cover any Jeff Buckley song on your tour.... at least once! After this video.... maybe there is a chance this might actually happen. He needs to mix it up and add some new covers to the setlist.

I'm going to the show in Peoria Illinois, so I'm hoping..

Chris has just posted a second video talking Jeff Buckley: I feel like I'm being teased with these videos.... surely he will bust out a Buckley song soon!

Jeff's tunes would take some practice sessions for sure to try and cover, even for Chris. I think Chris would cover Mojo Pin quite well. Having Bryan Gibson in with him would be wise as well.

I finally got around to listening to Jeff Buckley after years of telling myself to give his music a chance. So I bought Grace and just gave it a listen last Friday. Man, from the first few minutes of "Mojo Pin," how can you not be hooked? I can't stop listening to this album. I really like "Lover, You Should Have Come Over," "Eternal Life," all of them, really. He had a great voice and a killer pair of lungs on him. Also, do you guys think "Pillow of Your Bones" was inspired by the title track? The "colorful and falling" part seems like it was inspired by "wait in the fire, wait in the fire." Obviously, Chris has said time and time again that Euphoria Mourning was inspired by Jeff, particularly "Wave Goodbye," as you posted, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.
Basically, I just wanted to say I gave Grace a listen and instantly became a fan.

Basically, I just wanted to say I gave Grace a listen and instantly became a fan. Glad you got around to listening to Jeff Buckley and enjoyed the album so much. To be honest, the similarity in the part of those two songs didn't really occur to me before but as you said, it wouldn't surprise me as there is no doubt Chris was heavily influenced by Jeff on Euphoria Mourning. If you enjoy Grace you might want to check out Jeff's posthumous (double) album 'Sketches for my Sweetheart the Drunk' which is basically a work in progress for what could have come next. Some great gems on there too and so sad to think how much more great music there could have been. If you get a chance to listen to this let us know what you think of it. Also the fairly recent release 'You and I' (2016) which is mostly cover songs is worth a spin and lots of good live material to listen to. I'm still hoping that one day Chris will cover a Buckley song - those videos were such a tease I thought it was likely to happen when he was on tour!

Thanks for the recommendations. I will be sure to check out both albums! I've been wanting to listen to Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk because I know that on it, Jeff covers "Back in NYC" by Genesis, which is, in my opinion, one of the best songs on a great album.
And yes, that would be awesome to hear Chris cover Jeff.
