With the 25th Anniversary of Andrew Wood's death recently, I thought now was a good time to have another listen to the previously unreleased song "Island of Summer." The song was written by Chris Cornell and performed and recorded in collaboration with Andrew Wood, during the time they lived together in Seattle.
The song was released on 'Malfunkshun - The Andrew Wood Story', a documentary film based on the life of Andrew Wood - singer/songwriter of Mother Love Bone.
I'm not a fan of Mother Love Bone, but this song is an interesting snippet into the past.

Alongside the harmonies with Eddie Vedder on Temple of the Dog, my favourite Cornell vocal collaboration would have to be "Right Turn" by Alice Mudgarden's (Alice in Chains), from the SAP EP.
So many amazing vocalists on the one track! Forget about too many cooks spoil the broth - Right Turn is the perfect combination which gets me every time. I just love it when Cornell belts it out over the top of the background vocals during the outro.

Love Island Of Summer! Great little tune. Thanks for posting, I hadn't listened to it for a long time. And Right Turn, what can I say. Jerry gets me from the very start, then Chris comes in and does his thing with that beautiful voice of his. Layne and Mark. So, so good.

Two fabulous tunes. I can't believe IOS is the only known recording collaboration between Chris and Andy. I've never seen official lyrics for it, so I've wracked my brains ever since the song came out. Lol. Here goes.. No worry if y'all ever have to take them down. underneath the fallen tree through the winter pardon me i did not know you were sleeping warm my body and my heart i think i think i'm freezing all i need is one more chance to get through this season *where did the day go the sun just seem to sink away island of summer from my dream i'll find you before i wake before i wake remember leaves and fields of green through the winter with your cold shoulder next to me through the winter drinking water crystal clear from the river *(repeat) drinking water crystal clear ?? by the fire we can sit think of December just in time to greet the spring though it stays as not as long as yours warm my body i think i'm freezing bring your friend??

Thanks for posting the lyrics. Great words by Cornell! Yeah it is a shame that there aren't any more recordings... or maybe there is and even more of a shame that they aren't being heard!
The youtube video description also has lyrics.
