Motorvision and Paramount DVDs - I want to have a proper listen and figure out which of the two nights each Motorvision track is from - unless someone already knows? Some MV tracks are clearly the same footage as the full show, but from a quick listen, there may have been some overdubbing or else mixing of parts from the two nights... Just be interesting to know what is what. It seems like the audio from Motorvision is taken from the first night (March 5th). All of the tracks on Motorvision are different versions than Live at the Paramount (March 6th). The video looks like a mixture of both nights.

I am very tempted to pick up the super duper deluxe thingy, but really am not really wanting all of the bulky packaging. It sure would be great if they would just release all of the discs packaged in a small clam shell box. One that would slide right in to the CD shelf. What's up with all of the wrapping and pin wheel boxes? If they want to make it like Christmas they should just put a bat in it.

If they're gonna hit you for well over a hundsky for an album, they may as well go all out with the packaging. At least they made the content itself worth the cost for a lot of people. The do-dads are to lure collectors who think it'll go up in value if you keep everything sealed, since people who open all that crap up and use it often lose one or another little chachkie eventually. Crazy boxes take up a lot of real estate, but in a customized mancave, I guess they'd make great display pieces. If I were a rich guy with a huge house and money to burn on shit like that, I'd have a room filled with all that stuff, and a full audio system w/turntable, etc. But I'm not, so I have to be very selective what I splurge on or not.

I have to agree. A separate release of just the live DVDs and CDs would've been ideal. I could've done without 2 more copies of an album I already own, or all the trinkets. But hey if it's the only way I can get that live stuff, then so be it.

The tough conundrum of being a fan. True indeed. Having said all that, I must say the remaster sounds awesome.

If anyone has the Super Deluxe and has no use for the Blu-ray, I'd gladly buy it off you for US$30 +s/h via Paypal. I can't afford the box set and all I want is the 5.1 mix, kinda sucks they haven't released the Blu-ray as a separate standalone SKU like many other artists with 5.1 mixes have done. And heck if you have no use for it but don't want to split up your set, I'd pay $10 + s/h to just borrow it for a fortnight!
I blame the label and A+R team, not the lads in Soundgarden, but it's a trend that I hope comes to an end soon. There are many new 5.1 mixes released both in box sets and standalone DVD-A or BD formats and when you limit this to just a set with such a sky high price tag I think you're both doing a disservice to your fans and missing a segment of the market thus leaving money on the table.
